The arrival of fall doesn’t mean you must put away all your summer clothes and invest in a whole new wardrobe!
I prepared outfit formulas to help you when you don’t know what to wear or wake up 30 minutes late. These are simple outfits that you can apply during your daily days. So, I’ve tried to break down each company into a super easy base formula while also suggesting other alternatives so you can do it with different pieces in your dressing room and put your spin on it.
Here’s how to transition your summer clothes into fall and stay trendy. You can use these formulas. It gets cold the more you add your coat.
Checked or simple shirt + sweater or open cardigan/vest + jeans + ankle boots
This is my favorite and most often worn jumpsuit in the fall. When I don’t want to overthink what to wear, I can quickly grab one of my plaid shirts and wear it with those jeans and that sweater or cardigan. I can also change the color of my jeans or my cardigan. The possibilities are endless in this regard.
Dress + cardigan/jacket + tights + boot
I love this combination. It’s a great way to use up your dresses, even your spring dresses! You can wear them with fleece-lined tights for extra warmth if your dresses are thinner. (When it’s freezing, you’ll need a thicker dress.)
I’m enthusiastic about taking almost any dress I wear and playing around with colorful cardigans and tights to create my outfits. ‘Autumn.
T-shirt + autumn color cardigan + patterned scarf + jeans + ankle boot
This combination is so easy; that’s why it has to go! Once you’ve played around with different colored t-shirts, jeans, cardigans, and scarves, this combination will give you endless options. It’s a great formula for your “I don’t want to think” days.
Chambray top + jumper or open cardigan + skirt/maxi skirt or jeans + ankle boot
It’s an effortless combination. Choose almost any skirt and pair it with a chambray top, cardigan, or sweater for added warmth. For very short skirts, you can wear tights of different colors.
Striped sweater + cardigan + jeans + ankle boot
For this outfit, I paired the t-shirt with a cardigan. I love how easy it is to choose my striped t-shirts, wear jeans and ankle boots, and walk out the door. You can modify this look with different-colored jeans or layer other pieces over the tee, such as a blazer or jacket.
Plain color top + white jeans + jacket + ankle boots
There is an old rule that all white clothes and accessories should be put away after the end of the summer season. But you can wear this piece in autumn by adding a plain or printed top and a black jacket for a modern look. And if you want, you can add a bit of metallic to your white outfit.
To sum up:
- Layer your summer pieces with scarves, tights, boots, cardigans, or jackets.
- Don’t be afraid to mix white or light colors from your summer wardrobe with your fall ones.
- Patterns like leopards, flowers, and stripes will add to the fall look.
